The Politics of Them

“He made me do it,” is a common phrase uttered by school age children caught with their hand in the cookie jar. There is nothing more infuriating than a person unwilling to accept responsibility for his actions. Unfortunately, we have leaders averse to taking ownership of their actions. Actually, the term “leader” is a misnomer in this case because anyone who doesn’t take responsibility for his or her actions, decisions, or agenda is no leader.

Our Commander in Deflection is the biggest offender. President Obama says its “Them” not him that is to blame for everything wrong with America. He blames his predecessor, congressional Republicans, the rich, and just about anyone not named Obama for the country’s predicament. I guess he wants everyone but himself to take his or her fair share of accountability.
It’s not fair to saddle the president with all the blame but the only place you’ll find fair is in the dictionary. He wanted the job and the rounds of golf with Tiger Woods come with responsibility to lead the nation.

The Republicans and Democrats in both houses are no better. Everyone in Washington play the Politics of Them. That is assign blame to someone other than himself or herself. To soften the blow of a breakup, the typical cop out is “It’s me, not you.” For politicians the phrase is “it’s you not us.” Think again.

The only ones they are fooling are the people who believe Reality TV is real. When a hiring manager asks you for a weakness do you really think he believes your answer? At least in that scenario you are trying to make a weakness sound positive. There is nothing positive about the lack of leadership in Washington, DC.

We have no leaders in our nation’s capital. Leaders take responsibility for their actions and develop solutions. They take action and know how to work to accomplish the goal. Our elected officials have only one goal – get re-elected.
Rather than point fingers we need our elected officials to abide by the Constitution, get our fiscal house in order, and ensure the nation never gets in this position again. That’s leadership but we’ll never get that with this group of self-serving cowards.

We need leaders not losers.

About Armando Diana

A freelance writer for more than 30 years I covered the political scene in New Jersey which can prepare anyone for national politics. I have no fancy political degrees and I'm definitely not a lawyer - I am a common person who is fed up with politics. I want leaders focused on doing what is right for the country, not for them.
