There is wailing in Windsor, tears in Toronto, sobbing in Saskatchewan and mourning in Montreal.
Canadians are waking up to the realization that they are the targets of an insidious program of discrimination – blatant anti-Canuckism – that is the heart of Obamacare.
For years, smart Canadians, disgusted with waiting times to see their doctors and receiving the same level of health care technology practiced by the Iroquois on Jacques Cartier, fled to the United States for advanced medical treatments. The acknowledged cause of this annual therapeutic exodus has been the result of Canada’s feeble government-controlled health care system.
A 2012 study by the Fraser Forum reported that 46,159 Canadians received nonemergency medical treatment outside their country, namely in the U.S. This includes roughly 5,800 surgical patients, 562 heart patients and 3,836 kidney patients. That’s down from the previous 48,000 neighbors of the True North and Free recorded in 2010, which ironically, marked the period in which Obamacare started to take effect.
The study noted:
“In some cases, these patients needed to leave Canada due to a lack of available resources or a lack of appropriate procedure/technology. In others, their departure will have been driven by a desire to return more quickly to their lives, to seek out superior quality care, or perhaps to save their own lives or avoid the risk of disability. Clearly, the number of Canadians who ultimately receive their medical care in other countries is not insignificant.”
According to the report, in 2011 the median wait time between referral by a general practitioner and consultation with a specialist under the Canadian health care system was 9 1/2 weeks. No wonder Rob Ford, Toronto’s mayor, had to resort to cocaine rather than wait until 2016 before he could get coverage for a Weight Watchers membership.
The steady, annual flow of Canadians escaping their mandated, Canuckcare System is well documented. So, now that Obamacare will make the U.S. healthcare system as crappy as their own, where are the Canadians to go for quality treatments?
I am now of the belief that Obamacare is nothing more than a racist attempt by Washington elites to keep Canadians from crossing our boarders to get the superior (for now) care they so desperately need. Obamacare is a ‘No Canadians Need Apply’ policy that drips with discrimination.
Right now in the halls of the U.S. Capitol, in the West Wing of the White House, and even in Dick Chaney’s hunting cabin where Antonin Scalia is a guest, I envision the power brokers of our government behind closed doors snickering at jokes like, “How many Canadians does it take to change a light bulb?” Can’t you just hear Harry Reid in hushed tones to Nancy Pelosi passing snarky comments like, “Only in Canada are there handicapped parking spaces in front of ice rinks,” and “In Canada your pizza will get to your house faster than an ambulance.”
You don’t have to dig very deep into Obamacare to see it as nothing more than Canadian profiling. It’s a biased attempt to transform the once vaunted American health care system into something as ineptly run and ineffective as seeking a colonoscopy from the Manitoba Ministry of Drilling, Mining and Small Engine Repair. The unacknowledged goal of Obamacare is to imbue the American health care system with the same ineffectiveness and bureaucratic incompetence as the Canadian system that the Royal Canadian Air Farce comedy troupe would come out of retirement just to make fun of it.
And when Canadians no longer can draw a distinction between the Obamacare Death Panels and being trapped in a cave full of famished grizzlies that just woke up from a five-month hibernation, you can bet there will be fewer Ford F150s with Ontario license plates parked at the Medi Care of International Falls, Minnesota.
For now, illegal aliens from Mexico and South America cannot participate in Obamacare, but expect that to change when Congress gets to the brass tacks negotiations under “immigration reform.” And when that happens, you can expect the Canadians to be left out in the cold.
Oh by the way . . . it takes 12 Canadians to change a light bulb. Four to form a Parliamentary study committee to decide how to solve the problem. One Francophone to complain that no one translated the joke into French. One Native Canadian to protest that the interests of Native Canadians have been overlooked. One woman from the National Action Committee On the Status Of Women to say that women have been underrepresented in the process. One to go over the border to the Niagara Falls Factory Outlet Mall and buy a new bulb and not pay duty on it on the way back. One to actually screw it in. One to collect taxes on the whole procedure so the government can afford it. One to buy a case of Molson for everybody to drink, and one to drop the puck.
